Helen "Diane" Campbell
April 6, 1934--June 9, 2022 (age 88)
Helen "Diane" Campbell, 88, died on June 9, 2022 at Regency at The Park in College Place, Washington.
Diane was born on April 6, 1934 in Pendleton, Oregon to Parents Roland and Helen DuVaul McBroom. She lived all but the last few years of her life on the ranch homesteaded by her great-grandparents in 1865 on East Birch Creek near Pilot Rock, Oregon.
Diane spent her childhood years riding horses and helping with the family ranch. She was a talented vocalist, singing at local events and church services while in high school. After graduating from Pilot Rock High School, she set aside college plans and began working at what became her lifelong career as a veterinary technician. Her tremendous work ethic and love for all animals made her an exceptional, extremely knowledgeable, and compassionate tech at clinics in Pendleton and Hermiston for over 50 years.
Diane and William C. "Bill" Campbell were married April 22, 1955. They always had a house and pasture full of all types of animals, every one of them treated as a family member. If you were an animal in need of love and care, you would want to find the Campbell's on East Birch Creek!
Diane excelled at showing dogs in obedience trials. She and Bill raised and shower Quarter Horses and Appaloosas for many years with great success. She loved plants, flowers and working in her yard. Her adventurous nature loved traveling, taking her on memorable trips to many western states and Alaska, and once on a thrilling whitewater rafting trip.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, sister Dorothy Harms, brother-in-law Don Harms and nephew Stuart Harms.
She is survived by many friends who will miss her wit, charm, beauty, independence, positive thinking/never give up attitude, kindness and love.
A graveside service will be held June 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Olney Cemetery, Pendleton.
