Diane Jo Collier
June 29, 1938--September 29, 2022
Diane Jo Collier was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to Floyd Brooks and Mary Helen Lansing. She was raised in Huntington, Oregon, by her mother, Mary Helen Lansing; and stepfather, Ray Lansing; along with her sister, Dola; and brother, Max.
In 1955, Diane married Duane Jorgensen and settled in Hermiston and had two children, Dana and Lansing Jorgensen. After their divorce in 1972, she went on to own and manage D&D Court Apartments until 1979.
Diane also worked throughout the years as a Sunday school teacher for the Assembly of God Church, a den mother for the Cub Scouts, a checker at the IGA and a typesetter for the Hermiston Herald.
After graduating from Blue Mountain Community College with a degree in English, Diane worked as a substitute teacher and social worker for HUD. She was the co-founder and later, sole proprietor of Columbia Outdoor Surplus. Diane worked tirelessly to build the business into a thriving cornerstone of the Main Street business community. She eventually sold the shop in 1999 and later opened Tom's Camp Antiques in Umatilla.
In 1993, Diane met and married Lamond Collier and together they built a home in Hermiston and later they built a home in Boardman. After selling Tom's Camp Antiques, they moved to Pendleton to enjoy their retirement.
Diane had a great passion and vast depth of knowledge regarding antiques and Oregon history. She was an avid reader, animal lover and a thoughtful and loving wife, mother, daughter and friend.
A graveside service will be held at Olney Cemetery on Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to pay their respects is welcome to attend.
