Carmen J. Fager
November 5, 1936--March 7, 2023 (age 86)
Carmen Joy Moura Fager was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Prairie City, Oregon to Joseph Moura and Vera Maxine (Elliott) Moura.
She is survived by her younger sister, Judy Crowner; nieces and nephews, Shari Crowner, Rob Crowner, Tim Crowner and Jodi Gray, with their respective spouses; nine great-nieces/nephews, 10 great-great-nieces/nephews, and her loving cat, Rosebud.
When Carmen and Judy were younger, they did everything together. They walked into town, rode bikes, took swim lessons and even rode their horses to town to go swimming. Carmen loved to collect movie memorabilia, especially Debbie Reynolds.
Carmen graduated from Hermiston High School in the early '50s. She briefly attended dental school in Seattle, Washington, before returning to Pendleton to take care of her father.
She met her husband, Ramon (fondly called Ray to all the family), while working swing shift at Eastern Oregon State Hospital. They married in February and lived in their first home on Frazer Avenue in Pendleton with their cat, Tigger. They were married for 24 years before Ray's passing in 1997.
Carmen spent her remaining years in Pendleton, providing support to her mother until she passed in 2013.
Everyone who knew Carmen knew she was a lover of cats. Contributions in memory of Carmen may be made to the Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS) in lieu of flowers.
A funeral service for Carmen will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at Olney Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
