Delbert Jean Ball was born June i, 1930 in Ione, Oregon, the son of the late Roy Edwin Ball and Luda May (Jakes) Ball. He was raised and received his education in the Boardman community, having been a graduate of the Boardman High School Class of 1948.

Delbert served faithfully in the United States Army for 5 years before he was honorably discharged in 1956.

He was united in marriage to Bettie Jean (Blakeley) Hug on April 10, 1954 in Boardman, Oregon. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past April. Following their marriage, they resided in the communities of Boardman, Oregon and Hermiston, Oregon, until 2021 when they moved to the Scappoose community.

Delbert worked various jobs throughout his life including watermelon farming, driving water truck for road construction, custodian and bus driver for Morrow County School District, and tool room manager for Foster Wheeler at the Boardman Coal-Fired Generating Plant.

Among his special interests, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, deer hunting, and spending time with his friends and family.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Luda Ball; his son, Dale Ball; his brother, Roy Ball Jr.; and his sister, Sybil Ball.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Ball of Scappoose, Oregon; his children and their spouses, Susan and Jerry Donovan, of Columbia City, Oregon; Linda and David Morasch, of Spokane, Washington; his brothers and sister-in-law, Albert Ball of Lincoln City, Oregon; Franklin and Bernadine Ball, of Pendleton, Oregon.

Also surviving are his 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in his memory.
