Bettie Ball, 85, a resident of the St. Helen's community, died Thursday morning, January 27, 2022 at Avareme of St. Helens.

Bettie Jean Ball was born September 8, 1936 in Longview, Washington, the daughter of the late Roy Carr Blakeley and Lorriane (Wells) Blakeley. Bettie was raised throughout Oregon and Washington and attended high school in the Hermiston community. She later attended accounting classes at Blue Mountain Community College.

Bettie was united in marriage to Dale Leon Hug in 1952. She was widowed the following year shortly before their son was born.

Bettie then met her life-long husband. She was united in marriage to Delbert Jean Ball on April 10, 1954 in Boardman, Oregon. Following their marriage they resided in the communities of Boardman, Oregon, and Hermiston, Oregon, until 2021 when they moved to the Scappoose community. Prior to Delbert's passing. they had celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

Bettie worked as a scale house operator for Kinzua Corp., as well as a US Bank teller, and at Lamb Weston in the quality control department.

Among her special interests, she loved reading and spending time with her family.

Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Ball; by her son, Dale Ball; by her parents, Roy and Lorraine Blakeley; by her siblings, James Blakeley, Roy Robert Blakeley, and Dixie Blakeley; and by her first husband, Dale Leon Hug.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Susan and Jerry Donovan, of Columbia City, Oregon; Linda and David Morasch, of Spokane, Washington.

Also surviving are her 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
