Darrel G Keating
July 29, 1933--January 12, 2022 (age 88)
Darrell was born to Aden and Wanda Lyons at his maternal grandparents' farmhouse north of Eugene. His mother passed away when Darrell was three, and he then went to live with his mother's parents, George & Nona Keating. He attended kindergarten through high school in Springfield, Oregon, graduating in 1951.
The next fall he attended OSU in Corvallis, Oregon. After fall term he transferred to Southern Oregon College. In January of 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and spent most of his enlisted years as a flight navigation instructor. In 1956 he returned to Southern Oregon College where he met Beverly Ream. They were married in Reno in November of 1956. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past fall.
Darrell retired as parts manager from Mel's Tractor in Redmond, Oregon. He enjoyed college basketball, camping, fishing, and golf.
He and Bev made many friends at Parker Dam, California, where they were long time snowbirds.
Darrell was predeceased by his parents and a grandson, Kyle Burnside. He is survived by his wife Beverly, daughters Ann Burnside (Rob); Patti Bertz (Todd) of Applegate, California; nephews, Jim and Jeff Ream, five grandchildren, Tara Burnside (Jason); Darren Burnside; Lea Van Es (Tanner); Molly Bertz (Connor); Logan Bertz; and one great-grandchild.
Burns Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. No service planned at this time.
