Obituary
Beverly C. Keating
December 4, 1936--December 1, 2022 (age 85)
Beverly Camille Keating was born on December 4, 1936 to Harley M. Ream and Camille Schneider Ream. She grew up in a community of close cousins, aunts and uncles. She graduated from (South) Eugene High School. She then attended college at Southern Oregon in Ashland where she met her husband, Darrell. Bev and Darrell celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November of 2021.
Bev and Darrell raised their family in Eugene, moving to Redmond in 1973, and finally to Pendleton in 2002.
In Redmond, Bev worked at Cascade Child Care Center. She truly found her niche helping the children in their program. She liked planning activities along with helping students with their schoolwork. Her specialty was summer camping trips when she and a couple of staff took students to Lake Billy Chinook for swimming, fishing and all things outdoors. For many of the children it was their first time ever camping and quite a magical experience.
Favorite activities of the couple were playing bridge, golf, fishing and camping. They also loved traveling to Hawaii, Mexico and the California and Oregon Coasts. After retirement, Darrell and Bev made many friends at Parker Dam, California, where they were long time annual snowbirds. Both were avid golfers, and Bev was very proud of twice achieving a Hole in One on the River Lodge golf course.
After Darrell passed away, Bev moved to an apartment at McKay Creek Estates. Our family is so thankful for their excellent staff, and for her friend, Maxine. Also, we were grateful to Dr. Woodbury, her medical assistant Cassie, and the staff at Pendleton Family Medicine for the attentive care she always received. Thank you to Burns Mortuary for your kindness to our mom when our dad passed.
She is survived by, daughters, Ann Burnside (Rob) of Pendleton, Oregon; Patti Bertz (Todd) of Applegate, California; beloved nephews, Jim, and Jeff Ream, five grandchildren, Tara Burnside (Jason); Darren Burnside; Lea Van Es (Tanner); Molly Bertz (Connor); Logan Bertz and one great-grandchild.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, and a grandson, Kyle Burnside, her brother Merle Ream, and his wife Kathleen. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the the Kyle Burnside Scholarship (check made to Invesco with note regarding Burnside Scholarship, attention Pam Duso, Trustime, 75 SE Byers Ave., Pendleton, OR 97801) or to the charity of your choice.
